STF Ljugarn Hostel
Hostel | Drink your morning coffee by the sea. Eastern Gotland is the land of sunrise and picturesque Ljugarn is home to perhaps the island's oldest holiday resort. Here you can enjoy lovely beaches for cooling baths and pleasant walks along the coast.
Ever since the end of the 1800s, people have come to Ljugarn to enjoy the summer and swim at the kilometre-long sandy beach. However, Ljugarn was already an important town and port in the 1600s, and it is on the historic site of Strandridarna that the hostel is located. Here you stay in the rebuilt, charming old stone customs house. The large, lovely and beachfront plot also houses the Beach Riders' Museum and in the old chicken coop there is a fossil museum. Large child-friendly areas also attract play and games.
The sea and the fantastic and child-friendly beach are about 300 meters away, and invite you to both morning, dinner and evening swims. Directly below the hostel is the quay with a swimming ladder for the really quick dip.
Ljugarn is a charming village with old houses and a fishing village. During the summer, there are plenty of cozy restaurants down in the village, which is about 500 m walk from the hostel. There is also a grocery store and a café that is open every day of the week. From Ljugarn you can both hike and cycle and you can easily reach Gotland's many excursion destinations.
You stay in simple and functional twin or multi-bed rooms, where the vast majority have their own toilet. Since it is an old building, it can be perceived as a bit responsive. Showers and guest kitchen are located in the service building next door. Right next to the hostel you will find a smokehouse during the summer where you can buy fish and shellfish.
Linen is available for rent, please order it before arrival and they will be in the room on arrival. We also offer the opportunity to buy final cleaning. Please note that we are not able to offer breakfast and that our hostel is completely pet-free.
It may be good to know that before your stay, you will receive a welcome email from us with up-to-date information about opening hours in shops and the like.
