At Mallas Stenstugu, a made bed is waiting for you, towels are available on site and breakfast is always included, as well as final cleaning. The accommodation is divided into two buildings with a total of 9 rooms, 6 of the rooms have their own entrance from the courtyard. The KRAV-certified breakfast buffet is served in the spacious greenhouse, outside there is a generous terrace with plenty of seating. In the greenhouse there is also information about attractions as well as games and books to borrow - and the door is always open. It's wonderful to sit there when darkness falls and enjoy the lingering warmth! A large garden with old gnarled apple trees is at the disposal of our guests for play, games or rest.
Check-in at 16.30-18.30. Coming at another time is fine, but call us the day before to arrange key delivery. Open with breakfast service from midsummer to mid-August. Charging point for electric cars is available.
Mallas Stenstugu is located just over a mile east of Visby, about 15 minutes by car. Bus 41 stops at Endre Skola two km from Mallas, the bus runs about 5 times a day.
The white limestone block that has been both a dairy and a rural school is simply called the Old School. There are six newly created rooms with hotel standard. All with their own entrance on the ground floor, really comfortable beds and bathroom with shower and kitchenette (but NOT hotplates). The rooms have a TV and WiFi.
In the yellow main building from the 1800s is the Little Apartment. It was an assistant's residence when the farm was run by SLU (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences). There are a total of three rooms with a slightly simpler standard and shared bathroom facilities. The rooms share a small but fully equipped kitchen, and there is also WiFi.
The name Mallas Stenstugu comes from Magdalena Rudenskiöld, also called Malla, who lived at Stenstugu in the late 1700s. Malla was lady-in-waiting for Gustav III's sister but was exiled to Gotland (!) after she participated in a plot against the government.
