STF Hostel Ihre Gård

retkeilymaja | Ihre gård is on the coastal road, Road 149, 30 km north of Visby. The farm has its roots in the 18th century and is still in use as a family-run farm.

The principal product is lamb, and the farm is firmly based on ecological principles. The hostel has 12 cottages, built using a traditional technique known as “post-and-plank” (“bulhus” in Swedish).

Ihreviken is one of the most beautiful bays for swimming on Gotland, and is characterised by large cliffs. There is a large sandy beach here, and several generations of eagle have nested in the cliffs! It is possible also to take a riding excursion with guide, play tennis, boule and also pony riding for the children. Every Wednesday there is also a possibilty to eat a buffét with whole grilled lamb(with advanced booking).

The hostel is part of a living 18th century farm that is still in use with lamb as its main produce. The farm also has horses, some crops, an industrial museum in which visitors can spin wool, a handcraft shop and a popular café.
